入れ墨diary

I don’t believe I’ve ever talked about my ink.
I have a very simple 20mm tall anchor on my coccyx (tailbone), right above my butt pointing into my natal cleft.

I have an appointment to ink a 20mm long arrow on my chest somewhere around the left deltoid muscle, pointing to my left.

I often say that they hold no special meaning to me when quizzed, but that is untrue. I like what the symbols mean to me; strength, stability and steadfastness for anchors, focus, single mindedness and poignancy for arrows. There is no way to sound intelligent telling people this and what your tattoos mean because symbols can mean anything you want, so I avoid the question altogether.

I look at larger, ornate versions of both symbols all the time and was not swayed just once or twice. There are many designs on Pinterest to seduce you. Anchors with roses twirling around the stem. Anchors with birds. Aztec styled arrows. Arrows with colorful, intricate feathers. However there is something rather elegant and comforting about a minimalist tattoo which looks like the kind your classmate draws on your skin with ballpoint pens as kids in school back then, and I’m still glad I got what I got.
